Please consider a recurring donation. All funds donated provide folders, handouts, paper, and pens in the eight facilities where we currently offer in-person programming to incarcerated writers.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities for incarcerated writers to imagine themselves as storytellers and sources of authentic knowledge, regardless of perceived skill, legal status, or formal training.

  • Our Vision

To enact a culture of writing with and among incarcerated residents that is radically democratic in practice, sponsorship, and circulation.

To normalize publishing and circulation of work by incarcerated writers as valued human beings, masters of craft, and engaged citizens beyond their legal status.

To build a robust network of schools, nonprofits, publications, and community writing practitioners that supports system-impacted writers across Colorado and beyond.

Our Values

We believe in building a fully-inclusive community with and among incarcerated residents regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or security status, weaving individual writers into a wider array of social fabrics.

We believe in a writing practice that helps incarcerated residents reconnect to their authentic selves before the world started telling them who they are, reviving a childlike sense of joy and wonder about the world before others told them who they should be.

We believe in a writing practice that centers possibility, self-acceptance, and accountability.
